เนื่องด้วยวันที่ 18 ธันวาคมของทุกปี เป็นวันแรงงานข้ามชาติสากล ซึ่งเป็นวันที่องค์การสหประชาชาติได้จัดทำอนุสัญญาว่าด้วยการคุ้มครองแรงงานข้ามชาติและครอบครัว ค.ศ.๑๙๙๐ เพื่อให้แรงงานข้ามชาติและแรงงานอพยพในประเทศต่างๆได้รับการคุ้มครอง ซึงเนื่องในวันดังกล่าวเครือข่ายองค์กรแรงงานต่างๆ ภายใต้การนำของ คณะกรรมการสมานฉันท์แรงงานไทย  สมาพันธ์แรงงานรัฐวิสาหกิจสัมพันธ์  เครือข่ายสหภาพแรงงานระหว่างประเทศ ประจำประเทศไทย (UNI TLC)  สหพันธ์แรงงานขนส่งระหว่างประเทศ ประจำประเทศไทย (ITF Thailand)  สหพันธ์แรงงานเคมี พลังงาน เหมืองแร่ ทั่วไป ประจำประเทศไทย (ICEM Thailand)  สหพันธ์แรงงานกิจการสาธารณูปโภคระหว่างประเทศ ประจำประเทศไทย (PSI Thailand) และเครือข่ายปฏิบัติการเพื่อแรงงานข้ามชาติ โดยมีการรณรงค์เนื่องในวันแรงงานข้ามชาติสากล 18 ธันวาคม 2550 ณ ทำเนียบรัฐบาล และหน้าอาคารสหประชาชาติ ซึ่งรายละเอียดของข้อเเสนอต่อรัฐบาล สามารถดูได้ที่ http://solidarity.blogth.com   นอกจากนี้สามารถเข้าไปดูภาพกิจกรรมการรณรงค์ได้ที่ http://www.unithailand.org/index.php?option=com_expose&Itemid=88 

 On 10th December 2006 was the Constitution’s day and the human rights’s day. Normally, it was a traditional day for all of us and was also the recompense day.

 We must do something to push the Government. The Government needs to take quick action to celebrate this important day. When we talk about human rights, we must also think about the Declaration of human rights in 1948 decreed by the United Nations. This Declaration was signed by our Government which had confirmed to do the best and will search for the way to protect violations of the human rights in Thailand. Anyway, if someone commits violations, we must punish him.

เมื่อวันที่ 2-4 พฤศจิกายน 2550 ที่ผ่านมา ตัวแทนจากองค์กรภาคประชาชนและ NGOs จากหลายประเทศในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ จำนวนกว่า 200 คน ได้เข้าร่วมสัมมนา “ASEAN Civil Society Conference” ครั้งที่ 3 ณ ประเทศสิงคโปร์ ซึ่งจัดต่อเนื่องกันทุกปีนับจากครั้งแรกที่จัดขึ้น ณ ประเทศมาเลเซียและฟิลิปปินส์ โดยครั้งนี้ใช้ชื่อหัวข้อว่า “Moving Forward:Building People Agenda(ก้าวไปข้างหน้าเพื่อสร้างวาระประชาชน)”
จุดประสงค์ในการจัดสัมมนา ACSC ก็เพื่อสร้างความเข้าใจและสร้างความร่วมมือในการแก้ไขปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นในภูมิภาคและพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตของประชาชนในประเทศสมาชิก ASEAN

ประเด็นปัญหาที่สำคัญในการประชุมครั้งนี้ก็คือ มุ่งเน้นการสร้างวาระประชาชนให้เป็นที่ยอมรับในกฎบัตรอาเซียน และเน้นความร่วมมือจากประเทศสมาชิกเพื่อเรียกร้องและแก้ไขปัญหาทางการเมืองภายในประเทศพม่า รวมไปถึงการให้ประเทศสมาชิก ASEAN หันมาสนใจประเด็นปัญหาแรงงานข้ามชาติมากยิ่งขึ้น

การประชุม 4th ASEAN Civil Society Conference จะจัดขึ้นที่ประเทศไทยในปีหน้า โดย UNI-TLC จะเป็นหนึ่งในองค์กรร่วมจัดงานกับองค์กรตัวแทนจากประเทศอื่นๆอีกมากมาย

Siam Commercial Bank Labour Union submitted Siam Commercial Bank management the 11 proposals, regarding to the Thai Labor Relation Law 1975, to improve employees’ working conditions. The proposal is now under the negotiation. 

Mr.W. Michael Than     Vice president in charge of Human Resources, announced the prohibition of any forms of publications and announcements in the Bank. SCB labour union members considered such an action as the prohibition on receiving information of our union’s members and other employees, and the Human Rights violation of one’s opinion expression, which also means the violation of new Thai Constitution 2007 on Human Rights issues.

Moreover, SCB labour union members regarded this prohibition as the interference on union’s activities. Although the union tried to have bipartite negotiation and asked for the cancellation of such an order, unfortunately there has been no response from the management.

On 16^th November 2007 The NHRC finally asked the management to reconsider this prohibition and report NHRC as soon as possible.
